Lacy Spider Column Crochet Tote Bag

A lightweight summer tote bag looking for a new home.

Lacy Spider Column Crochet Tote Bag

Summer always makes me want to crochet lighter bags, and this tote was my answer to that.

Most crochet mesh bags use square-shaped openings, but I wanted to try something a little different. When I discovered the Lacy Spider Column Stitch, I loved how it created small triangular openings instead. The fabric still feels light and breathable, but the stitch gives the bag a completely different character.

To add a little depth to the fabric, I held two yarns together—a soft mint 100% cotton yarn and a dark grey yarn made from 80% cotton. The colours blend into a subtle marled effect that reminds me of pebbles by the sea, making it feel even more suited for summer.

This tote turned out much larger than most of my projects, making it perfect for everyday errands, a trip to the farmers' market, or a day at the beach. It also used considerably more yarn than my smaller bags and pouches.

As with everything in this section, I’d rather this bag be used than left sitting in my cupboard. You’ll find it on Vinted, where I’ve listed it for €6—just enough to cover the cost of the yarn used for this larger project.
